Digital Audio Workstation
Digital Audio Workstation, or DAW for short, taught us how to use the software Cubase and the different effects and processes we could do within it. From the very beginning we were given the task of creating a piece of music which had to be:-
-
Minimum of 3Min long,
-
It had to consist of 6 Audio tracks and 6Midi tracks. In which should show knowledge of different effects such as, reverb, delay, compression. As well as processes such as, automation and mixing and mastering.
When first given the task, it was a lot of hard work for me to jump in to. I’d never used anything like this before. Finding my way around the software took a long time, but my confidence grew in that time. Admittedly I spent far too much time in making the piece of music sound nice, instead of just learning the effects, which is something I am wanting to work on so as I approach projects with more balance in the future.
In the end, I completed my final product for the task and am now currently working on it again. Using my newfound knowledge from over the academic year to fiddle and tweak with the piece.
Here is the Wav file of my first mix of the DAW project (This song is not my creative IP but all audio was hand input and edited myself)
